Load’ issue unites lawmakers, officials

Many people have said the Philippines was a divided country, but the mobile phone issue about loads, or credits, have united several lawmakers and other officials.
The government should rein in the profits of telecommunications companies (telcos) and make sure that they would use their earnings into improving their infrastructure and service, Sen. Francis Escudero said Thursday.

“Yesterday, there was a Metro-wide glitch involving Globe. This should not happen because it is making a lot of money,” he added.
“The people are the ones providing the telcos with their huge profits,” he added. “The telcos should recompense this with the proper service. I think the government should step in to protect the people.”
